Future Chinese Olympians Training with the Marlins!

The YMCA, Nick Baker, and the Marlins coaching staff would like to welcome our newest members to the Marlins' family:  Two current members of the Chinese National Team as well as their current Olympic coach.

In an effort to expand our curriculum as well as continue to offer an up and coming program to our swimmers, we have extended an invitation to two World class swimmers from China along with their coach.  For the month of February they will be training with the Marlins as well as competing at our meets as Marlin swimmers.  They arrived in the United States January 31st and have already begun training with our team.

15 year-old XuanXu Li resides in the Hu-Nan Province of China.  At the age of 13, she competed in her first Olympic Games in Beijing.  Here she finished 8th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:32 (Longe Course Meters) and 5th in the 800 Free.  In addition to the Olympic Games, she recently competed in the 11th Annual Chinese Games during the 2009 year.  XuanXu is the current Asian record holder in the 400 IM with a time of 4:30 (Long Course Meters), this time also ranks her 2nd in the World.

15 year-old ChaoSheng Huang resides in the Hu-Nan Province of China.  He has been swimming competively for the past four years.  In this short amount of time he has become one of China's top Male swimmers.  ChaoSheng recently competed in the 11th Annual Chinese games during the 2009 year.  He is the current Asian record holder in the 400 IM with a time of 4:12 (Long Course Meters), this time also ranks him among the top 13 in the World.

Both of these swimmers are currently on track to compete in the next Olympic games held in London, England during the year 2012.

They are accompanied by their coach, Zhen Feng, who is a current Olympic coach for the Chinese National Team.  She brings with her a vast amount of knowledge and swimming background, as she has placed 2 swimmers on the Chinese Olympic team and has had numerous Chinese National swimmers.  We welcome her expertise and knowledge in swimming.

You will see these swimmers on deck or in the water over the course of this month.  Please, join us, in welcoming these great athletes and their coach to the Marlin family.  We are currently in the process of setting up some very short clinics for each group, to observe these two in the water.  As of right now, they are currently training with the Senior level team.  This is an incredible opportunity for every member of this team, to observe two World class swimmers train.  This is also a great opportunity for our coaching staff to expand our curriculum and knowledge of swimming as our staff will be working closely with their coach.  We hope that each and everyone of you takes advantage of this one of a kind experience!
